About Victoria Turnbull
VICTORIA TURNBULL is a critically acclaimed creator of picture books. As a young girl she loved stories, but she couldn't see herself as a storyteller. Born in York, in the North of England, she spent her childhood drawing and making things. Writing developed during her master's degree in Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Upon completion, she discovered picture books to be the most wonderful way in which to tell stories.
After winning the 2013 Association of Illustrators New Talent Award in the Children's Book category, her first book 'The Sea Tiger' was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal and shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Book Prize. She has since written and illustrated 'Kings of the Castle', 'Pandora' and 'Cloud Forest' and illustrated 'Is It Really Nearly Christmas?" by Joyce Dunbar. In 2017, Victoria was chosen to represent the UK in the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava.
