About Ruth Eastham
Ruth’s first novel, THE MEMORY CAGE, was shortlisted for the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize, the UK Literacy Association Award, and nominated for the Carnegie medal.
Rich in themes, ranging from Alzheimer’s disease, 1940’s Dunkirk and conscientious objection, the book has become popular in both upper-primary and secondary school classes.
Also with a World War II setting, Ruth’s award-winning second book, THE MESSENGER BIRD centres around Bletchley Park. When his dad is arrested for stealing military secrets, to save him Nathan must uncover the truth buried for decades. THE MESSENGER BIRD was chosen by Book Trust UK to be part of the national ‘Book Buzz’ reading enrichment scheme.
Ruth trained as a teacher at Cambridge University’s Homerton College, and has taught young people of all ages internationally, as well as in the UK. She regularly gives talks in schools and runs creative writing workshops – and now offers Virtual Author Visits.
Ruth’s ARROWHEAD is a Viking fantasy thriller that takes place in present-day Norway. Her fourth book, THE JAGUAR TRIALS finds our heroes on a dangerous quest to discover the fabled City of Gold, El Dorado. In THE WARRIOR IN THE MIST, a lost tomb that dates back to Roman times must be found – the tomb of the legendary Queen Boudicca herself!
