About Karen George
Karen George studied Fine Art at the Royal College of Art. She then painted film sets and murals for a while. Following the arrival of her two boys, Karen stopped wielding giant paint brushes (her arms were aching) and downsized to teeny tiny ones, enabling her to pursue her desire to write and illustrate books for children.
In 2009 Karen won the Waterstones Picture This competition and illustrated Freddie and the Fairy by Julia Donaldson as her prize. A second book written by Julia Donaldson followed, and with Hugh Shampoo Karen became an author too.
